Sherlock Holmes is depressed: he has no new case, he has no work to fill his days with. He is simply bored with life and routine. Doctor Watson, on the other hand, is gripped by a haunting past and the memory of a mysterious woman he met years ago. A young lady brings a change to his current slump with her mystery that cannot be left unsolved. And so Holmes and Watson set to work.
Today's person is a careerist who asks to be given a job and the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities at all costs. His role model can be Sherlock Holmes, who is more afraid of vacation than bullets. Fewer people ask what place love has in life and what connection it has with success. A representative of the minority can be Doctor Watson, whose world is much more emotional than his friend's.
The new production of the Tartu Student Theatre "Sherlock Holmes: Eternal Pearls" takes Arthur Conan Doyle's world-famous detective story and brings it to life on stage. The dramatization is based on the novel "The Four Signs", in which, on the one hand, fidelity to the original has been observed, but on the other hand, original creativity has been added to create a story that has not been told before. In this way, we try to answer the question: what are the values that really matter in the end.
SHERLOCK: The only wealth you need is knowledge, attention and the ability to reason.
WATSON: But love?
SHERLOCK: Love belongs to the realm of feelings, and everything that has to do with feelings goes against reason. So I will never marry, because otherwise I would lose my clear mind. And that is why I do not wish you happiness.
WATSON: You have an interesting understanding of happiness. And of life.
SHERLOCK: Some choose feelings, some choose reason. Some choose nothing.
